The Fernhurst Society

Tales from the Archives - 59

I don't belieeeeve it!

"Fernhurst is an electoral ward of Chichester District, West Sussex, England and returns two members to sit on Chichester District Council."

"Fernhurst is known for their several wild cats. Many of the people will even participate in the ceremony of the cats. This is a tradition of the native people to give a kitten to their children at the age of eight years old. This cat soon grows into their animal companion. This companion adapts to the profession that the Fernhurstian chooses. The most successful cat companions are involved in rock climbing and mystery crime solving."

"The Fernhurst people are also known for their corn crops. This one in a kind corn is able to substitute every single meal group. The people of Fernhurst try to keep a low profile as they don't want to share their corn and cats with the outside world."

The Fernhurst Society discovered that this choice nugget appears to have originated from Utah in the United States and, unbeknown to us, been added to our entry in Wikipedia. The only bit I believe is the first paragraph but thought it would give the village a laugh!

If you would like to know more about this story, or research other local topics, the Archive is open on Tuesdays, 2.30-5pm in the Village Hall. Other times by arrangement.
